MingoTalk

Accessibility

This page says how MingoTalk works for somebody who cannot see it well, cannot hear it, or does not use a screen the way most people do - and what it still does badly.

Text size

Every screen is drawn again at every text size the phone offers, up to twice the standard, and none of them cuts a word off or spills over its edge. That is not a promise: a hundred and seventy-one screens are drawn and measured on every change, in both languages, and a screen that cannot hold its words fails before it ships.

Nothing in the app shrinks your text to make something fit. Names wrap onto a second line rather than ending in a dot-dot-dot.

Narrow phones

The same screens are drawn at 320 points wide - the narrowest phone still sold here - and measured the same way.

Screen readers

Buttons, switches and pictures carry their names, so TalkBack and VoiceOver say what a thing is rather than "button". Anything a finger has to hit is at least 48 points across even where the mark drawn inside it is smaller.

Colour and contrast

Nothing is said with colour alone: a state is a coloured dot AND a word beside it. The app follows your phone's light or dark setting.

Sound

Video in the feed starts silent. Voice messages and talks are sound only - there are no captions yet, and that is the biggest thing missing from this page.

Where it is still poor

Captions for voice and video. Some older screens have text over photographs where the contrast depends on the photograph. Landscape is not designed for.

Telling us

Help and support inside the app, or accessibility@mingotalk.com. Say which screen and what happened; it is treated as a fault, not as a suggestion.
